Dirk Badenhorst, the CEO of the Cape Town International Ballet Competition (CTIBC), has announced that the closing date for applications for the next competition taking place in February next year is 16 January 2012.

As part of the forthcoming Genée International Ballet Competition, the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) will present Sizodanisa (Let's Dance!), a series of workshops being held over two days at the Artscape Theatre Centre, culminating in a dynamic dance showcase on the Artscape’s theatre stage on Wednesday 5 October at 3:00pm.

In one month’s time, the prestigious Genée International Ballet Competition will begin at the Artscape Theatre complex in Cape Town.  Presented by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and supported by the UCT School of Dance and Cape Town City Ballet, the Genée will take place at Artscape’s Theatre and Opera House venues from 30 September to 9 October 2011.

Viengsay Valdés, the Principal Ballerina of the National Ballet of Cuba, will join the illustrious line up of dancers for the forthcoming International Ballet Gala (IBG) to be held at the GrandWest Arena in Cape Town on 29 June and at the Teatro at Montecasino from 7-10 July 2011. Ms. Valdés will perform two show stopping pas de deux from Don Quixote and Swan Lake (the famous ‘Black Swan’ pas de deux), in Johannesburg only.
